About The Event
Training Rationale: This workshop provides training and experience for those seeking to become prescribed fire practitioners. It is designed for wildlife biologists, wetland managers, restoration professionals, landscape architects, foresters, natural resource managers and anyone interested in utilizing prescribed fire as a land management tool. Information on state laws, permitting process and writing burn plans is included.
Training Description: This two-day workshop focuses on planning and conducting low complexity controlled burns primarily in grassland vegetation. Weather permitting, participants will conduct a prescribed fire on a nearby prairie.
Prerequisites: Basic Wildland Firefighter Training (FFT2) certificate.
Date: March 29-30, 2025
Time: 8 a.m-5 p.m.
Location: Located at Cooper Farm, part of the Ball State University Field Station and Environmental Education Center in Muncie, Indiana.
