DESCRIPTION:Ball State University Field Station and Environmental Education
  Center will host two workshops in Basic Wildland Firefighting and Prescri
 bed Fire for Managers. Instructors are National Wildfire Coordinating Grou
 p (NWCG) certified and include professional wildland firefighters and Indi
 ana DNR Forestry Division staff. Register for both workshops for a 15% dis
 count. Ball State students may enroll for 3 credit hours.\n\nWhen: Wildlan

 dland Firefighter Basic Training is the prerequisite for the DNR Prescribe
 d Fire for Managers training.\n\nThe NWCG Wildland Firefighter training co
 mbines computer-based self-study (~3 days) and field exercises (one day) t
 o gain fundamental understanding of fire behavior\, fire-line safety\, Inc
 ident Command System and Communications.  The Work Capacity Test (“pack
  test”) will be offered on site in the afternoon for participants to rec
 eive nationally recognized “Red-Card” certification\, required to work
  on wildland fires and many prescribed fires.\n\nThe IDNR RX100 Prescribed
  Fire workshop (2 days) supplements wildland firefighter training to prepa
 re participants to develop\, assess\, request permits and implement prescr
 ibed fire plans on the landscape.  Weather permitting\, participants will
