Aiming to foster and promote unity and harmony among volunteer fire departments throughout Indiana
The Lois Boaz Award was started in memory of Lois Boaz, from Floyds Knobs. She was a founding member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and was also instrumental in getting an auxiliary started in District 16. She was their first Chairperson. When she passed away, her husband and family wanted to recognize her efforts within the District 16 Auxiliary, and community. Thus the Lois Boaz Award began at the annual convention. Nominations for this award are handled through a letter writing campaign. The letters should describe in detail the lady's involvement in her fire department auxiliary, her community, and her family.
